Terms of use
Last updated: April 2026. Governed by the laws of England and Wales.
What this is
The Nous is a newsletter that sends you one summarised research paper or long-form essay per cadence window, in topics you've chosen. The service is provided as-is, free of charge, and is operated by an individual in the United Kingdom.
Who can use it
You can subscribe if you're old enough to consent to receive email under the law of your country (in the UK, that's 13+). If you're younger than that, please ask an adult to subscribe on your behalf.
Summaries and source links
Our summaries are generated by large language models and can contain errors, omissions, or misplaced emphasis. Every issue links to the original paper or article. Treat the summary as a pointer, not a substitute for the source. Any research decisions, investments, or medical conclusions should rely on the source — not our blurb.
We select papers and articles that are openly accessible to the public and link to them rather than redistributing their content. Copyright in the original material belongs to the original authors and publishers.
Acceptable use
Don't sign people up against their will, submit fake or abusive email addresses, or attempt to interfere with the service. We reserve the right to unsubscribe any address that's being used that way.
Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee the service will always be available, or that any particular issue will be delivered. We're not liable for any loss, damage, or decision made on the basis of content in the newsletter, to the fullest extent permitted by English law.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is material, we'll tell active subscribers by email before it takes effect. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance.
Leaving
You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the link in any email or by emailing us. No formality required.
